A poly tank that will beat Australia’s harsh sun

 In Uncategorized

There are many things that Australia is blessed with, and among these is an abundant supply of sunlight. This can be a massive plus during the summer, of course, but it's also essential to remember the risks that this can bring.

It's well known that due to its geographic location in relation to the ozone hole, Australia receives some of the harshest sun in the world. According to MyUV.com.au, this country is also exposed to some of the world's highest levels of UV radiation.

Analysis from Cancer Council Australia shows that in some parts of Australia – especially in the north – the UV Index is consistently at 3 or above throughout the year, with levels of around 14 commonly reached during summer. An Index of 3 signals UV levels high enough to necessitate the use of sun protection measures.

The fierce sun that Australia receives has several implications. In addition to the need for people to keep themselves protected from the sun at all times, it highlights the importance of having a good supply of water, especially in the drier summers. Water becomes even scarcer and a more valuable resource during these times, keeping people, plants and other organisms hydrated.

Moreover, it emphasises the value of investing in a polyethylene water tank – specifically one that has been custom-built to withstand Australia's harsh conditions. In a country like Australia, you just can't rely on the first water tank you come across. If the polyethylene used to manufacture it has been sourced from overseas, there's a good chance it won't stand up to the local heat.

As such, it's a good idea to look for a tank made from Alkatuff, the Australian-made polyethylene that's tough in the sun. Alkatuff is manufactured to UV20 standards – more than twice of the national standard of UV8.

The use of high-quality additives during manufacturing protect Alkatuff with superior UV resistance, and as a final measure, is tested to the equivalent of 20,000 hours of continuous sun exposure. Don't settle for second best when buying a plastic water tank – make sure yours has been built with local conditions in mind.
